From the list of possible thematic topics from the novel, write theme statements for three.  The topics are as follows:

• human nature, beauty and chaos, violence, British exceptionalism, fear, loyalty, power, decay/imperfection/loss of modernity, society, boundaries, leadership, and courage.

Also, come up with five different examples of irony from the novel.  Be sure to specify the kind of irony each is.
