English 8

Take a few minutes to think about the story we began today and jot down what will be special about the monkey's paw. Remember, the story opens on a stormy night. A family, consisting of two older parents and their son, are in their living room. The father, a risk taker, is playing chess with the son. Then, a visitor calls. This man begins to tell strange tales of his travels. Eventually, the subject of the monkey's paw arises. The visitor at first states that he does not want to discuss this magical item.

You will have a spelling test on Friday and a vocabulary quiz on Monday. Your vocabulary words are the ones on the sheet that we marked today in class: wholesomeness, aimiably, hospitable, presumptuous, enthralled, apathy, liability, oppressive, reverberated, compensation.
