A. Poetry - Read "September Rain" and "September Midnights" silently and out loud a few times. (See "September Poems" under the pages menu.) Do the following 2 things :

1.  Explain what the poet wants to communicate (his or her purpose for writing the poem).

2.  Write down 3 effective images or words from each poem and be prepared to explain your choices.

B. Personal Response - In 1 - 1.5 single -spaced pages, tell about a person who had a significant influence on your life and future plans.
